This round is considered to be sacred and is the heart of the tradition of faith in Kobo Daishi. It is settled on a flat area surrounded on three sides by the mountains called Tenjiku, Yoryu and Mani, with the pure currents of the Tamagawa stream passing in front. It is said that Daishi himself designated the area as the place for his eternal repose. It is also recorded that after Daishi's passing, his disciples approached the cave where he had left this world and discovered his body to be as if still alive. There they built a small three-room structure and waited upon him every day without relent. Even today, settled amongst the towering cedars, this site seems to be sending a smile to those who pray here with sincere hearts.
